Attachment

I have had ten long days of reflective thinking in Pecatonica, IL. In those hours, I learned about the basic desire of the mind. They are two, constant craving and aversion. I thought and thought, since that was all I was able to do.
The mind, like the stache, is ever flowing with change. From moment to moment it experiences something different. A tiny strand can fall away, it can be trimmed, it can grow, the wind may blow on it, or it can even become moist from breath. For many of us, it is inconceiveble to observe those changes with our senses minute by minute. But if we are patient with time, we will see that everything becomes different. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. The important thing is to be aware of the changes. One has to make the mind sharp. Secondly, we must not attach ourselves to the observations we witness or feel. In knowing that everything will rise and fall, so will our anger and happiness and everything in between. This does not mean that one has to become numb, as it is the human condition to feel emotions, but one must learn to observe and become aware of the tendency to attach or avert. This will help in both managing feelings and communicating them in a way that is intended, with love and compassion, always! Does this make sense?

The Stache

I have always wondered about this blog business and never knew what to write about. So I will address many issues. Today we will brush upon facial hair. Quite frankly, I don't think most people will find hair attractive unless it is on the head of a woman or a man. On the other hand, many come to appreciate it when it grows on the face of a man. But what happens when it is on the face of a woman? Ahhhhh, may be your initial reaction. However, once you "Look Inside", only after resisting against any romantic desires to kiss a woman with protein strands growing on her upper lip, will you find that every moustache has a tale. It grows for a reason. Share yours. If you do nothing at all, pluck, wax, thread or shave, let me know why. Sometimes, I pluck my feminine stache because it conflicts with my notion of beauty. Other times I let it grow to give myself a laugh! HA!

Here is a man who explains why he shaved his facial hair, Mr. John Oates.
